Description: Card table with rectangular top having rounded corners and reeded edge. Skirt conforms to outline of top and is veneered on front and sides; narrow edge of contrasting inlaid veneer along bottom. Rear legs swing out to support opened top. Legs ring turned and tapering to arrow feet.
Materials: Mahogany solids and veneers, satinwood banding.
Dimensions: Height: 29". Width: 36". Depth: 16-1/2" closed, 33" open.
Locality and Period: Probably New York. c. 1800-10.
Comments: Card tables were never more popular than in the Federal era and followed Sheraton models with delicate lines and handsome graining before tastes changed after 1815 when card tables were produced with thicker elements. The reeded edge of this table reflects designs that were fashionable in New York and the Duncan Phyfe school.

Description: Rectangular expandable dining table with slightly overhanging molded top. Three 10" drop-in leaves to expand. Plain skirt and rounded corners featuring double legs. Legs turned, tapered and reeded terminating in ring and vase feet. 1 armchair and 5 side chairs with shield backs and needlepoint upholstery.
Materials: Walnut solids & veneers. Various secondary.
Dimensions: Table: Height: 30". Width: 62" w/o leaves, 92" with 3-10" leaves. Depth: 42".
Chairs: Height: 37", 18" to seat. Width: 19". Depth: 20".
Locality and Period: Rockford, Illinois. c.1935.

Description: Game table with folding top hinged in rear and rear legs that slide out to accomodate game surface. Undulating front conforming to banded skirt below. Opened top extends to create a dining size table (no leaves included) with fold down legs to support additional length. Carved cabriole front legs with rosette and bellflower decoration and carved feet.

Description: Rectangular display table with hinged molded frame, glass lift-top. Framed side, front and rear glass panels that are mortised and pegged to upper legs. Straight legs, square in upper part and round below, tapering to raised pad feet. Mortised and pegged construction.

Description: Work table with rectangular top having molded edges and 2 dropleaves with rounded corners. Plain side and back panels and front rails mortised into square stiles that become top of legs. 2 drawers with turned pulls flanked by turned rosettes. Legs with ring turned capitals and long squared section ending with ring, vase and ball turned feet.
Materials: Black walnut. Pine secondary.
Dimensions: Height: 29-1/2". Width: 18-1/4" closed, 40-1/2" open. Depth: 24".
Locality and Period: Ohio valley west to Missouri. c.1850-60.
Comments: The work table, commonly referred to as side tables or bedside tables in recent years, was a popular form during the early to mid-1800's, this example having further utility with the addidtion of drop-leaves.

Description: Rectangular table with 2 drop leaves having rounded corners and fastened by iron hinges. Planks swing out from skirt to support leaves. Top supported on 4 legs mortised into plain skirt. Legs turned and tapered with vase and ring turnings defining upper and lower sections and ending in tapered feet. 
Materials: Walnut. Pine secondary. Iron hinges.
Dimensions: Height: 28-1/2". Width: 21" closed, 47" open. Depth: 39-1/2".
Locality and Period: Pennsylvania, the Midwest,or the South. c. 1840-50.
Comments: Country furnishings in the Sheraton design were simple interpretations of the style fashionable all over the country between 1825 and 1850.  Unadorned country pieces have a charm of simplification and such pieces are ideal for informal settings or popular in today's urban designs.

Description: Tall, slim display piece with upper back composed of an oblong beveled mirror flanked by two molded shelves supported by delicate turnings. Three lower molded shelves backed by paneled sections, middle shelf raised on turned and scrolled support. Two long curved front legs and two shorter straight rear legs. 
Materials: Mahogany. Mixed secondary woods. Beveled mirror.
Dimensions: Height: 54". Width: 28". Depth: 12".
Locality and Period: Factories in the East and Midwest. c.1910.
Comments: Though the Art Nouveau style was tremendously popular in Europe at the turn of the century, American examples were produced in relatively small quantities making them hard to come by and extremely desirable.

Locality and Period: Pennsylvania, Ohio, the Midwest. c. 1850.
Comments: Country Sheraton furnishings were simple interpretations of the fashionable late Federal style that was popular during the early 1800's. The turnings and tapering of the legs were not as sophisticated or delicate as urban examples but had not adopted the heavy proportions of the emerging Empire style.
