Description: Large 2-piece sideboard with molded, slightly overhanging top. Top with rounded corners and rounded segments conforming to recessed lower central portion. Upper section: 2 bowfront drawers with concealed finger-grip pulls flanking a central dropfront storage compartment seperated by upper columns. Lower section: 2 bowfront cupboard doors on each side of a large, recessed central paneled and chamfered cupboard seperated by 4 turned and carved columns. Molded bowfront base with 4 front elaborately carved paw feet that are continuations of columns. Massive turned vase rear feet. 
Materials: Mahogany solids and veneers. Pine secondary.
Dimensions: Height: 43". Width: 74". Depth: 23".
Locality and Period: Large East coast furniture centers. c. 1830.
Comments: Classical or Empire sideboards are considerably less ornate than those of the Federal era. Sideboards of this sort are noted for their fine graining and detailed carvings. These pieces go well with modern furnishings and are useful for storage.

Materials: Pine. Cast iron drawer pulls.

Locality and Period: New England west to Missouri.

Description: 1-piece cupboard with rounded edge, overhanging top. 2 drawers, one with working lock, one with faux lock, over 2 paneled, locking doors. Drawer fronts molded and having glass pulls. Valanced side skirts extensions of side boards ending with bracket feet. Interior of cupboard having 2 shelves. Paneled, dovetailed and nailed construction.
Materials: Butternut (white walnut). Pine and white walnut secondary. Glass drawer pulls (replaced).
Dimensions: Height: 49-1/2". Width: 53-1/4". Depth: 18-1/2".
Locality and Period: Missouri. c.1850.
Comments: Referred to as jelly or jam cupboards, these nice country pieces were undoubtedly used to store foodstuffs. The locking drawer was used to store tea and sugar, the most valuable of provisions. The height, depth of and sturdy construction of this cupboard would allow use for wine storage and serving.

Tiger Maple & Walnut Pie Safe

Description: 1-piece cupboard with plain, slightly overhanging top and a shaped splashboard. One full length hand dovetailed drawer over two paneled doors, all having turned wooded knobs. Sides having two pinwheel and fan decorated punched tin panels. Front feet of a unique and appealing form with rear legs extension of side panels.
Materials: Walnut, tiger maple. Pine secondary. Punched tin side panels.
Dimensions: Height: 52". Width: 40-1/2". Depth: 17-1/2".
Locality and Period: Midwest. c.1850-60.
Comments: Used to store foodstuffs and cool freshly baked pies, these cupboards were originally found in the kitchen or dining area. This example is a very rare combination of contrasting walnut and figured maple.

Description: Mission-style set of bookshelves assembled from 3 seperate units. Seperate flat top with grooved edge to fit into lower sections. Each unit has hinged glass front in wooden frame. Seperate base unit with single full length drawer.
Materials: Oak solids and veneers.

Locality and Period: Labeled "The Globe-Wernieke Co., Cincinnati. c.1910.
Comments: Developed in the late 19th century, the sectional bookcase was popular for both home and office. This example still having original labels.

Description: Small set of 4 unmolded shelves. Solid board sides with quarter rounded top edge and unique heart and clover cut-outs. Plain notched feet and legs extension of side boards. Back has two vertical slats with rounded tops and one horizontal slat. Screwed and nailed construstion.

Locality and Period: Large factories throughout the East and Midwest. c. 1910-30.
Comments: Sturdy small set of bookshelves that which could be used as a side or bedside stand. The unusual heart and clover design of the side panels makes this piece desirable to collectors.

Lower section: Two drawers with brass lion head pulls over two molded and paneled cupboard doors. Interior with one shelf. Fluted stiles. Heavy overhanging molded base with bun feet.
