Sheraton Drop-leaf Work/Sewing Table Item #: AF1059 Description: Sewing or work table with rectangular top and 2 drop leaves having rounded corners and fluted edges. Front has 3 narrow drawers with round brass pulls. Lowest drawer opening to suspended fabric bag with smaller bottom board. Legs block-shaped alongside drawers; below, ring and vase-shaped capitals set atop tapered, spiral turnings. Ring turned tapered feet ending in brass casters. Materials: Mahogany solids & veneers. Pine secondary. Brass casters & pulls. Cloth catch bag (replaced). Dimensions: Height: 28-1/4". Width: 19" (closed), 36" (opened). Depth: 17-3/4". Locality and Period: New England, likely Massachusetts. c. 1800-1810. Comments: Sheraton-influenced Federal designs are often most appealing when decorated by both fine graining and delicate carving. The fabric bag for storing sewing materials was favored in the early 19th century. Price: $2,400.00

American Federal Mahogany Card Table Item #: AF0800 Description: Card table with rectangular top having rounded corners and reeded edge. Skirt conforms to outline of top and is veneered on front and sides; narrow edge of contrasting inlaid veneer along bottom. Rear legs swing out to support opened top. Legs ring turned and tapering to arrow feet. Materials: Mahogany solids and veneers, satinwood banding. Dimensions: Height: 29". Width: 36". Depth: 16-1/2" closed, 33" open. Locality and Period: Probably New York. c. 1800-10. Comments: Card tables were never more popular than in the Federal era and followed Sheraton models with delicate lines and handsome graining before tastes changed after 1815 when card tables were produced with thicker elements. The reeded edge of this table reflects designs that were fashionable in New York and the Duncan Phyfe school. Price: $1,250.00

This fine chest consists of two long "wig" cabinets above single glove drawers with a central ogee mirror and cornice crown. The bottom cabinet has four graduated drawers having turned knobs with fine hand dovetailing. The base has delicate scallop molded ogee feet. Original finish lightly cleaned and waxed. Silver Articulating Fish Besamim Spice Cache Item #: G0567 Description: A fantastic silver (NOT silver plated) fish spice Besamim (Havdala Spices) container, probably Russia, Ca 1900, Judaica. The container is articulated and made in the form of a fish, with separate scales allowing movement of the fish (wagging of the tail). It has fins on which it can stand on and a hinged head with a pinned hook to allow spices to be inserted. It is decorated with superb engravings all over. Materials: Silver (not silverplate). Scottish Mahogany High Chest Item #: AF0971 Description: Striking tall Victorian mahogany Scottish chest of drawers having 2 slightly overhanging drawers with unusual shaped double frieze fronts. The lower section has 4 graduating lined drawers with original turned mother of pearl inlaid handles. The chest of drawers has beautiful turned column supports and stands on four chunky turned bun feet. The front is strikingly figured flamed mahogany and the piece is a rich medium mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina. Fine hand dovetail construction. 1884 "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, Illustrated by Gustave Dore Item#: F0356 Title: The Raven Author: Edgar Allan Poe Publisher: Harper & Brothers, New York Date: 1884 Comments: Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Elephant folio (18-1/2" X 15"). Pictorial cloth with striking illustration by Dore stamped in gold and black on front cover.Some light wear to the front cover, but the gilt design is still bright. There is some light wear to the corners and to the top and bottom of the spine. No bookplates, or markings of any kind. There is some wear to the front hinge and to the edge of the front free endpaper . The book is clean and free of any foxing. This book contains all 26 (one loose) of Gustave Dore's original illustrations. They are all in excellent condition. This is a first edition printed by Harper and Brothers in 1884. These folio edition Dore's are often split up and sold separately for their beautiful prints. A very rare find in this condition. Americana Folk Art Carved Wood Figure of President Andrew Jackson Description: Life-size wood carving of Andrew Jackson depicted in the pose from the figurehead of the U.S.S. Constitution, the original being carved in 1834 by Laban S. Beecher. The figure measures 73" tall, 84" including the base. President Jackson was acquired from an estate in Kansas City that was being liquidated by grandchildren whom had only sketchy provenance of how and when their "Grandpa" acquired the carving. The family story was that they believed it to be a cigar store figure advertising "Old Hickory" cigars and was purchased from a Kansas City Tobacco store in the 1920-30's by the grandfather.
