Description: Small dressing-table or bureau-top portable mirror set in frame with arch top. Mirror supports are scroll uprights fixed in a stepped and molded base with bow shaped front. Curled feet.
Materials: Mahogany. Glass mirror.
Dimensions: Height: 28-1/4". Width: 24-1/2". Depth: 10-3/4".
Locality and Period: East coast west to Ohio. c. 1840.
Comments: Also known as shaving or toilet glasses, these pieces are among the most interesting examples of smaller cabinetry. The curving frontal forms imitate those of period chests of drawers.

Description: Tall, narrow mirror with rectangular frame and overhanging, molded and carved cornice. Mirror is flanked by turned and carved ebonized columns.
Materials: Walnut, ebonized walnut. Glass mirror.

Locality and Period: Larger factories from the East to the Midwest. c. 1875.
Comments: Often made to match a suite of Eastlake furniture, these large mirrors flanked doors and windows in the Victorian home.

Description: Small Federal mahogany wall mirror having flat, flaring pediment with blocked sides above a narrow rectangular glass panel reverse painted decorated primitive landscape. Tall rectangular mirror with slender reeded pilasters down the sides above a blocked flaring bottom rail.  
Materials: Mahogany. Glass & mirror.
Dimensions: Height: 35-1/2". Width: 19-1/4". Depth: 3-1/2".
Locality and Period: East coastal region, mirror marked New York. c. 1820.
Comments: Most interesting for the reverse painted primitive landscape of 2 houses and a bridge.

Description: Rectangular mirror composed of 4 molded oak slats that are mitered and joined at the corners. Bevel mirror fits into slots cut into inner sides of slats. Metal hooks on sides and bottom slat.
Materials: Solid oak. Cast brass hooks. Beveled mirror.
Dimensions: Height: 19". Width: 29-1/2".
Locality and Period: Large factories throughout the East and Midwest. c. 1890-1910.
Comments: Oak hall mirrors were extremely popular for half a century. They not only added a decorative touch to the hallway, but were also practical with hooks to hang hats or small articles of clothing.
